Wellness tips
None of these need a gym membership, a meal plan, or a free afternoon you do not have. They are the small things that quietly made my days better.
One glass of water before your first coffee. That is the whole habit. Most of us wake up a little dehydrated, and the headache I used to blame on bad sleep was often just that. I keep a glass by the kettle so it is impossible to forget.
Five to ten minutes of morning light, ideally outside, helps set your body clock and lifts the morning fog. I take my coffee onto the step while the kids find their shoes. It is not meditation. It is just standing outside, and it works.
Not a workout. One song. Stretch, dance with the kids, walk around the block. The goal is to break the all-or-nothing trap where a missed gym session means doing nothing. Three minutes of movement beats a perfect plan you skipped.
Why this works: tiny habits stick because they are too small to dread. Once "one song" is automatic, it often turns into ten minutes on its own. But it never has to.
Before bed, I scribble tomorrow's loose ends onto a notepad. Getting the mental tabs out of my head and onto paper is the difference between lying awake rehearsing the grocery list and actually falling asleep. A cheap notebook beats a fancy app for this.
Ten minutes that are yours, on purpose, not as a reward for finishing everything, because that day never comes. Tea on the porch, a chapter of a book, a walk without a podcast. Rest is not the thing you earn after wellness. It is the wellness.
Pick one. Just one. Do it for a week before you add another.
